Changes to the Regulation of the Simple Taxation Regime
Lexir
Tax attorney Nicolás Carrero published an article for Lexir on the recent modifications to Colombia's Simple Taxation Regime (RST) introduced by Decree 1545 of 2024. Mr. Carrero outlines the changes related to the calculation of the bimonthly advance and the annual declaration for RST taxpayers, including the territorial industry and commerce tax (ICA) component and applicable tax discounts. He highlights a new provision in the decree that establishes non-amendable conditions related to the RST, potentially causing confusion regarding previous National Directorate of Taxes and Customs (DIAN) guidelines. He also recommends that taxpayers carefully review these provisions to understand their impact.
