President Trump Rescinds Biden Administration Federal Contractor Minimum Wage
Government contracts attorneys Jeremy Burkhart and Bailey McHale, along with labor and employment attorney Timothy Taylor, co-authored an article featured in The Coalition for Common Sense in Government Procurement. They discuss President Donald Trump's executive order (EO) revoking several Biden-era policies, one of which was an EO increasing the federal contractor minimum wage. As the authors explain, revoking this order means the rate will eventually decrease from $17.75 to $13.30 per hour. However, they advise contractors to maintain current wages until the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) issues formal guidance on the issue, as the legal landscape remains complex and unresolved.
The attorneys also published a Holland & Knight alert on this topic.
