Birmingham Attorneys Expect Rise in COVID-19 Litigation
The COVID-19 pandemic has placed financial pressure on a wide range of industries and sectors of the U.S. economy. Larry Childs told the Birmingham Business Journal to expect a wave of bankruptcies and an increase in litigation as a result of the economic interruption caused by the pandemic.
“The interruption of the American economy will trigger multitudes of loan defaults and bankruptcies. After banks work through the payment deferments that are being liberally granted, many debtors will be unable to honor their commitments. Banks will attempt to collect, and debtors will look for defenses and counterclaims.”
