Mergers and Acquisitions attorney Paul Jaskot was quoted in Litera's 2021 Annual M&A Report on the current M&A market and the differences between today's market and the pre-pandemic market. While dealmaking paused in the middle of the year, it came roaring back in the last months of 2020. This momentum continued into 2021, and global dealmaking is set for a comeback year. When asked about the differences between today's market and the pre-pandemic market, Mr. Jaskot summed up the difference with one word: urgency.
"Certainly, some of this urgency has been fueled by anticipated changes in capital gains rates and other tax laws. However, in a highly competitive M&A market, speed to execution is being demanded and is absolutely essential for sellers, buyers, and their respective advisors and service providers to demonstrate," he commented.
