New CDC Guidance May Jeopardize Patients and Staff

The CDC recently released new COVID-19 guidelines that are proving challenging for providers to navigate. The new guidelines recommend only 5 days of quarantine. The change aims to mitigate healthcare staffing shortages, but nurses and doctors worry the recommendations could harm patients and healthcare staff.

Colin Luke told Modern Healthcare in this article, "When they are making decisions in a crisis, that makes it difficult for a lawsuit to succeed as long as they are being prudent as possible under the circumstances."

Colin also noted, "Hospitals want to err on the side of workplace safety, and are doing whatever they can to protect the workforce and still deal with the needs of patients."
