GOP Concerns About Tax-Exempt Groups May Prompt Probes, Guidance

Congressional Investigations attorney Christopher Armstrong was quoted in a Bloomberg Tax article about how House Republicans are requesting information on rules regarding tax-exempt organizations. These queries stem from concerns that these organizations may be engaging in political activities to influence U.S. elections. Additionally, the article discusses how this renewed interest could potentially lead to elimination of an appropriations provision that has blocked the IRS from issuing guidance. Mr. Armstrong offered his thoughts on these potential hearings. 

“It would be hard to design a Congress that is more inclined toward oversight,” he said.
