Beyond the Down Payment, Know the Costs Associated with Buying a Home

Real Estate attorney Esteban García was interviewed by La República about the costs that come with buying a home. Mr. García highlighted the legal expenses that are assumed upon receiving the home, explaining that they are regulated in a scale according to the value of the property. He also noted the registry tax, which is paid to the corresponding departamental administration.

"The legal expenses are those that are charged both at the notary's office and at the registry offices. The notary is paid for granting the public deed, and is caused by both the sale and mortgage to be established," he said.
