SpaceX, Blue Origin Endorse Push to Delay Commercial Space Rules

Bloomberg Law

Satellite and Space Technology attorney Paul Stimers was quoted in a Bloomberg Law article discussing the commercial human space flight industry. There is a proposal in the Senate to extend the current federal moratorium on regulations for human space flight, which would allow the federal government to work with companies on creating new guidelines to govern the industry. Mr. Stimers commented on the proposal, which comes as lawmakers negotiate reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

“It makes sense for things to extend at least as long as the FAA extender does,” explained Mr. Stimers. “It’s important that the learning period be extended because the purpose of the learning period hasn’t yet been fully realized.”
