The Entities in Charge of the Processes of Illegal Collection of Money from Crypto Assets
Financial Services attorney Camilo Gantiva was cited in a La República article about the lack of regulation of crypto assets in Colombia and its implications for cases such as the investigation into the company Daily Cop for alleged illegal campaign financing. Mr. Gantiva explained that although the country has not yet passed legislation specifically regulating the crypto industry, illegal money raising and money laundering activities are still crimes that must be investigated by authorities. He also highlighted the need for regulations that clearly define crypto assets, their scope and relevant activities such as custody, negotiation and intermediation, and noted that victims of cryptocurrency scams can report them to the attorney general's office.
"The regulations must include clear definitions of crypto assets and their scope of application. The different relevant activities related to this activity must be identified," he said.
