Lawyers Eye Expected Rate Cut, Expecting Large Cap M&A Boost as a Result
Corporate attorney Blaine Remmick was interviewed by Daily Business Review about how a federal interest rate cut could affect the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) market. The Federal Reserve is expected to reduce interest rates this month, and large cap M&A activity is expected to pick up soon after. Mr. Remmick commented that though the increase in deals probably won't match the numbers seen in 2021, transactional lawyers can still anticipate an uptick in work with clients ready to return to the negotiating table.
"People who want to jump back into the game are ready to get into it. And typically, once these rates start going down, you see a trend where they continue to tick down to help keep the economy just humming right along," he said. "So in the near term, I think it will pick up. In the long term, I expect to be busier next year than I was this year."
