He noted that the threat of tariffs could be a strategic move to gain leverage in upcoming United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) trade deal renegotiations. If implemented, these tariffs could lead to increased prices and potential shortages of fresh produce in the U.S

Implementation of steep tariffs over time could mean the U.S. may be seen as an unreliable trading partner and that importers of U.S. goods would look elsewhere to fill the void, Mr. Tabor explained.
