Nippon Steel Still Wants to Acquire United States Steel
National Security & Defense attorney Robert Friedman was quoted in a Global Finance article examining former President Joe Biden's decision to block Japanese company Nippon Steel from buying United States Steel (USS) and evaluating future options for the companies. Nippon Steel has sued the U.S. government in response to the order, which the former president made over concerns of national security. As Mr. Friedman explained, President Donald Trump could rescind the order, which could prompt the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) to reassess the national security risk.
"The Trump Administration is not in any way bound by executive orders the previous administration made," he said.
