Overview

Brett Elliott is a healthcare attorney in Holland & Knight's Seattle office. Ms. Elliott focuses on healthcare regulatory compliance to ensure healthcare providers comply with federal and state regulatory requirements and have policies, practices and programs in place to maintain compliance.

Ms. Elliott regularly advises clients on a variety of healthcare matters, including compliance with fraud and abuse, physician self-referral, privacy and security, corporate practice of medicine, and other laws and regulations governing the provision of healthcare services. She also assists clients with various transactional matters, including provider contracts, payor contracts, services agreements and assessing healthcare regulatory risks in mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Ms. Elliott is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

In addition, Ms. Elliott advises healthcare providers and other clients in employment matters, including employment and separation agreements, non-compete agreements, non-solicitation agreements, confidentiality agreements, arbitration agreements, wage and hour, and leave benefits. She also represents employers in employment disputes, including discrimination, harassment and wrongful termination.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Elliott was an attorney at a Seattle-based law firm, where she focused on healthcare regulatory compliance and other employment-related matters.

Previously, Ms. Elliott was a trial attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Civil Division. In that capacity, she led several healthcare investigations and litigated cases under the False Claims Act (FCA). These matters involved alleged violations of the federal Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law and Medicare and Medicaid regulations governing hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, behavioral healthcare facilities, home healthcare and other healthcare providers.
