Overview
Daniel Levisohn is a business attorney in Holland & Knight's Washington, D.C., office. Mr. Levisohn focuses his practice on complex commercial transactions, with an emphasis on companies in the real estate industry.
Mr. Levisohn has extensive experience advising fund sponsors on the formation, negotiation and operation of private investment funds, with a particular focus on real estate funds. He has represented many leading real estate fund sponsors in establishing closed-end funds, programmatic joint ventures and other investment vehicles and accounts across a range of asset classes. He has also represented institutional investors on their private fund investments.
In addition to capital formation, Mr. Levisohn has also represented numerous real estate investment trusts (REITs) and other real estate companies on their mergers and acquisitions (M&A), including public and private M&A, joint ventures and other complex transactional matters.
Mr. Levisohn's clients include companies from a wide range of industries, including real estate, defense, manufacturing, finance and insurance. Companies have relied upon him for some of their most challenging transactions, including the formation of an innovative real estate investment platform by one of the nation's leading multifamily investment companies and the sale of a public technology and defense company in a cash and stock merger transaction.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Levisohn maintains an active pro bono practice in which he advises nonprofits on matters ranging from labor and employment to board governance.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Levisohn was an associate at another international law firm in Washington, D.C. While in law school, he served as an articles editor of the Minnesota Law Review.
Before his legal career, Mr. Levisohn was a reporter and editor in Seattle and New York City.
