Overview

Michael "Mike" Warner is a senior policy advisor in Holland & Knight's Austin office, where he leads the firm's Texas Government Advocacy Team and is a member of the firm's Public Policy & Regulation Group.

With more than 25 years of government affairs experience at the state, local and federal levels, Mr. Warner strives to provide positive legislative change for his clients. He combines his extensive knowledge of the political process with his deep-rooted, widespread relationships to assist a diverse range of clients to help achieve their goals. His experience with clients includes advocating protection policies for natural resources, the establishment of a database to combat insurance fraud and easing restrictions for building workforce housing.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Warner served as a lobbyist and led the Texas governmental affairs group for a national law firm. In addition, he was a principal in a consulting group that focused on providing legislative strategy and advocacy to clients.

Before his lobbying career, Mr. Warner was chief of staff for Texas State Rep. Joe Pickett. He also worked for former Houston mayor and Texas State Rep. Sylvester Turner as well as  former Texas Gov. George W. Bush.

Aside from his legislative accomplishments, Mr. Warner has traveled extensively, speaking on U.S. politics in the European Union and China. He also worked as a columnist for the EU Reporter, a European newspaper located in Brussels, Belgium, writing about U.S. politics.

Mr. Warner is a proponent of giving back to his community. He has served on the boards of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Central Texas and Recording for the Blind and Dyslexia.
