Overview
Josias "Joe" N. Dewey is a finance and real estate attorney in Holland & Knight's Miami office. With more than 25 years of experience, Mr. Dewey's finance practice spans traditional and emerging asset classes, with particular emphasis on real estate (including real estate healthcare and digital infrastructure such as data centers), asset-based lending and digital assets. Having previously served as the firm's innovation partner for more than seven years, Mr. Dewey has been at the forefront of integrating technology into his practice.
Mr. Dewey represents a diverse client base that includes banking institutions of all sizes, private credit lenders, investment funds and real estate developers.
Mr. Dewey has deep experience in repo facilities, mortgage warehousing and note-on-note transactions. He regularly leads complex syndicated transactions and has substantial experience representing both lead lenders and participant lenders in various co-lending arrangements. Mr. Dewey's experience includes transactions across the entire capital stack, including senior, mezzanine and preferred equity. Mr. Dewey has also represented construction lenders in several billion dollars of high-end luxury condominium developments inside and outside of the state of Florida.
Beyond his practice, Mr. Dewey has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Miami School of Law, where he taught real estate transactions for more than 15 years.
