MVP: Holland & Knight's Maria T. Currier

Maria Currier, co-Leader of the firm's Healthcare & Life Sciences Industry Team, recently earned a spot on Law360's 2022 Health Care MVPs list. She spoke with the publication about some of her recent deals, how she decided to enter the health law field and advice she recommends for junior attorneys. 

Unlike a lot of lawyers who work in the legal ecosystems of the healthcare industry, Ms. Currier worked in the field before practicing law. "I practiced for six years in trauma, emergency rooms, ICUs," she said. Becoming a deals lawyer was "a big change in my career," she continued, noting that she "wanted to do something different and wanted to advance my critical thinking skills."

When asked what inspires her, Ms. Currier responded, "I'm definitely drawn by the mission, the health of the population. The policies around how we deliver that service fascinate me."
