Mines Are Exporting More Than in the Last 14 Years

El Colombiano

Energy attorney Inés Elvira Vesga was cited in an article published by El Colombiano about the increase in mineral exports from Colombia during the first trimester of 2023. The Colombian Mining Association announced that sales from the extractive sector in the country reached US$4.962 million, US$1.21 million more than in 2022. The entity also reported that Colombia placed 15.3 million tons of coal abroad, 3.2 million tons less compared to 2022. Ms. Vesga commented on the importance of coal for the country's energy sector and exports in general.

"Since coal is the main line of Colombia exports, it is expected that activity will not be hindered and demonized to be able to monetize the immense coal reserves the country has," she said.
