"Instead of Stigmatizing Oil, the Bet is to Generate a Development Framework"
Energy attorney José Vicente Zapata was interviewed for an article in La República about Guyana's oil success. Mr. Zapata spoke about the process to promote the oil industry in the country and the legal certainty that strengthens the position of investors. He also explained that a key element was not to stigmatize the industry. Furthermore, he insisted that this localized growth will open the doors for widespread growth in the energy sector.
"What they are seeing is that with this development they will simultaneously impact the mining, environmental and infrastructure sectors, so what will happen is that they will be able to grow and even talk about an energy transition," he said. "It's an interesting model because what you're going to see is widespread growth."
