WTF Does ESG Really Mean for M&A?
Mergers and Acquisitions attorney Chauncey Lane was featured in a Texas Lawbook article discussing how environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues are becoming increasingly important factors in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions. The article notes that Mr. Lane moderated a panel at the University of Texas School of Law's Mergers and Acquisitions Institute, where panelists from several law firms concluded that ESG issues are moving toward greater focus in deals and need the attention of transactional lawyers.
Mr. Lane was quoted saying that 53 percent of investors have cancelled a deal because of "material findings" discovered during ESG due diligence.
