Real Estate Takes on Heightened Focus Under Trump's CFIUS

International Trade attorney Robert Friedman was quoted in a Law360 article describing how the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) is expected to shift focus toward real estate transactions under the Trump Administration. The article discussed how recent policy directives broaden the scope of what constitutes critical infrastructure and increase scrutiny of greenfield investments. Mr. Friedman highlighted that this expansion might lead to more transactions falling under CFIUS review.
"That expands the number of transactions that potentially could be subject to CFIUS jurisdiction. It also puts under the microscope these additional assets when it comes to national security reviews," he said.
