From Deep Fakes to Discrimination: Lawyers Weigh in on A.I. Landmines
Intellectual Property attorney Dan Barsky was quoted in a Daily Business Review article examining the implications of artificial intelligence (AI) for lawyers, especially those in litigation and areas like trademark and copyright law. He said he is already working on litigation involving trade secrets and data and expects more issues to arise in the future. Currently, there is no legal guidance for these types of cases. Mr. Barsky commented on the current litigation landscape, adding that potential regulations governing AI's use could also lead to an uptick in cases.
“There is no case law on these issues, so everything that comes up is really an issue of first impression,” Mr. Barsky explained. "People are suing over, frankly, anything they can, any theory they can possibly try to come up with because there’s no playbook for this yet.”
