Table of Experts: Overcoming Obstacles on the Road to Success

Miami attorneys Miriam Soler Ramos and Isabel Diaz were quoted in a South Florida Business Journal article recapping a roundtable co-hosted by the publication and the Holland & Knight Women's Initiative. Ms. Soler Ramos and Ms. Diaz moderated the insightful discussion with four South Florida women business leaders who shared their experiences overcoming challenges and turning failures into success.

"What was particularly insightful was the realization that regardless of one's position or level, everyone encounters hurdles in life. It's only by directly confronting these obstacles that we truly grow stronger and learn invaluable lessons from them," Ms. Diaz said.

The panelists consisted of Carolina Herrera, Lennar's vice president of land acquisition; Beatrice Butchko, a judge in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida; Madeline Pumariega, the president of Miami Dade College; and Caroline O'Connor, the business operations president for the Miami Marlins. They spoke about the importance of continuously working on yourself, building a support system and helping others in their journey to success.

"Witnessing exceptionally successful women leaders, in our community, speak of encountering difficulties, allowed us all to realize that failure, missteps and roadblocks are part of everyone's life, and it is how we choose to react that shapes our individual future," Ms. Soler Ramos said.
