Transition Toward Carbon-Neutral Business Models: An Urgent Need

Energy & Natural Resources attorney Inés Elvira Vesga was interviewed by Gestión y Negocios Magazine about the transition toward carbon-neutral business models in Colombia. According to a 2023 World Economic Forum report, more than 70 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions come from economic activities, which means that businesses play a key part in the transition toward a more sustainable future. Ms. Vesga underlined the urgency for companies to adopt strategies such as measuring their carbon footprint, establishing methods for improving energy efficiency, innovating through transforming supply chains and developing sustainable products, and collaborating with other sectors.

"Currently it is not viable to think about new initiatives that do not include components of this type, nor in existing businesses that do not begin migrating toward it," she affirmed.
