Top Climate Change Policies to Watch in 2025
Jim Noe, co-chair of the firm's Oil and Gas Practice, was quoted in a Law360 article analyzing how the incoming Trump Administration will approach climate change policies. He explained the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) methane control regulations will likely be reviewed and revised, which would impact the oil and gas industry. However, Congress would need to be involved in the change or elimination of the methane fee as it is governed by the Inflation Reduction Act. Additionally, Mr. Noe said he expects the liquefied natural gas (LNG) export moratorium to be lifted soon after President-Elect Trump returns to office.
"That's a headline issue and probably doesn't have immediate effect with real-world projects," he noted. "Nonetheless, it's something the industry expects and a pledge the Trump campaign made repeatedly."
