Labor and employment attorney Camilo Cuervo was interviewed by La Opinión about the Colombian government's options regarding the country's labor reform following the project's collapse in Congress. In light of this situation, alternatives are being considered to move forward with certain elements of the reform by approving them by decree. Mr. Cuervo highlighted the legal limitations of this strategy.
"Most cannot be enacted by decree. They must pass through Congress and become law, because what is regulated by law cannot be changed by a regulation of an inferior category, and decrees are inferior to laws," he said.
