Can You Be Fired for Not Meeting Business Goals?
Labor attorney Camilo Cuervo was cited in an article published by Asuntos Legales discussing the procedures for firing employees in Colombia who fail to meet business targets. Mr. Cuervo clarified that although such grounds for dismissal are valid, the process itself is not instantaneous. He explained that employees must be granted a minimum of one month to demonstrate improvement before any definite decision is reached. Furthermore, he remarked that the overall complexity of this procedure means it can take months to complete.
"To evaluate and address an employee's performance effectively, they should be given at least a month between each evaluation step. As a result, the entire process can take anywhere from three months to a year to complete," he said.
