Holland & Knight Announces 17 New Partners
Miami (January 2, 2014) – Steven Sonberg, managing partner of Holland & Knight, announced 17 attorneys in the firm have been elected to partnership effective January 1, 2014. Nine associates and eight senior counsel from various offices throughout the firm have been elevated. They are:
Atlanta
Associate elevated to partnership:
Joshua Bosin, a member of the firm's Litigation Section, concentrates his practice on the defense of major corporations, educational institutions and governmental entities in a broad range of labor and employment matters, including those arising under federal and state anti-discrimination laws. He received a B.A. degree with distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002 and a J.D. degree cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law in 2005.
Boston
Senior Counsel elevated to partnership:
Jacob Baron, a member of the firm's Litigation Section, practices in the area of intellectual property litigation at the trial and appellate level as well as before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He has successfully assisted clients in enforcing their intellectual property rights and he has helped to defeat multimillion dollar claims of alleged infringement. He earned a B.S. degree magna cum laude from Wentworth Institute of Technology in 1998 and a J.D. degree from Boston College Law School in 2001.
David Glynn, a member of the firm's Business Section, provides regulatory and compliance guidance to healthcare and life sciences companies in fraud, abuse and compliance-related matters. He represents clients in disputes before state and federal regulatory and law enforcement authorities, including the Department of Justice, United States Attorneys' Offices and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. He received a B.A. degree from Franklin & Marshall College in 1998 and a J.D. degree from the George Washington University Law School in 2001.
Benjamin Stern, a member of the firm's Litigation Section, focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation and other complex disputes involving technology. He has experience across a broad range of industries and technologies, and has appeared in numerous federal, state trial and appellate courts, as well as at the International Trade Commission. He received a B.A. degree with distinction from Swarthmore College in 1996 and a J.D. degree from New York University School of Law in 2000.

Kristen Cassetta, a member of the firm's Business Section, practices in business and tax law with a primary focus on equity financing for affordable housing projects eligible for federal low-income housing tax credits and other state and local tax credit programs. She represents tax credit syndicators, lenders, developers and others involved in this area. She earned a B.A. degree magna cum laude from Boston College in 2001, a J.D. degree from Boston College Law School in 2004 and a LL.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law in 2005.
Dayna Hutchins, a member of the Business Section, practices in business and tax law with a primary focus on equity financing for affordable housing projects eligible for federal low-income housing tax credits and other state and local tax credit programs. She has significant experience closing low-income housing tax credit transactions involving complex debt structure and subsidy assistance from both private and public sources, including mixed-finance programs for public housing. She earned a B.A. degree summa cum laude from Boston College in 1996, a M.Ed. from Boston University in 2001 and a J.D. degree from Boston College Law School in 2005.
Mark Whittenberger, a member of the Litigation Section, focuses his practice in the areas of patent prosecution, intellectual property licensing, opinion work, post-grant practice, due diligence and litigation. He has extensive technical experience in computer hardware, software and medical devices. On multiple occasions, he has served as a seconded IP counsel for a publicly traded electronic circuit design company responsible for managing the direction of the company's IP portfolio. He received a B.S. degree in civil engineering from the University of New Hampshire in 2000, a J.D. degree from the University of New Hampshire School of Law in 2003 and a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of New Hampshire in 2005.

Amy Bowen, a member of the Real Estate Section, focuses her practice on commercial leasing and retail development. She has a niche practice representing wireless communications industry clients on a broad range of real estate matters. She received her B.A. degree magna cum laude from Duke University in 1999, an M.Ed. from the University of Georgia in 2001 and her J.D. degree cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law in 2005.

Associate elevated to partnership:
Ryan Magee, a member of the Business Section, represents banks, hedge funds, financial institutions, business capital companies and private funds in commercial finance matters with a particular focus on real estate transactions and structured finance. He also represents lenders and investors in medical and biotechnological financing. He received a B.A. degree cum laude from the University of Richmond in 1998 and a J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law in 2005.
Los Angeles
Senior Counsel elevated to partnership:
James Michalski, a member of the firm's Litigation Section, represents management in business and employment matters for a diverse clientele ranging from major national corporations to mid-sized businesses. He has handled matters in a number of industries, including technology, health services, education, manufacturing and hospitality. He received a B.A. degree cum laude from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1990 and a J.D. degree cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1994.

Senior Counsel elevated to partnership:
Anna Marie Hernandez, a member of the firm's Litigation Section, focuses her practice on routine and complex real estate and commercial, title insurance, collection and landlord/tenant litigation matters. She also handles issues related to the protection of creditors' rights in bankruptcy actions in both state and federal courts. She received a B.A. degree from Florida International University in 1997 and a J.D. degree cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law in 2001. She is the treasurer of the Cuban American Bar Association and has served on its board since 2006.
New York
Associate elevated to partnership:
Aaron Goldberg, a member of the firm's Business Section, practices in corporate and securities law. He focuses on representing entrepreneurs and emerging growth companies in every stage of development, including financing and exit transactions. He also provides ongoing operational counsel as well as transaction-specific services to larger clients in a number of industries, and has extensive experience negotiating and drafting complex commercial contracts, licenses and joint venture agreements. He received a B.A. degree, with highest honors, from Brandeis University in 2000, a General Course Certificate from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1999, and a J.D. degree from Fordham University School of Law in 2005.

Sarah Butters, a member of the firm's Business Section, is experienced in trust and estates litigation, sophisticated estate planning, the administration of probates, guardianship and trusts, and the formation and administration of charitable organizations. She earned a B.S. degree from Florida State University in 1993 and a J.D. degree summa cum laude from Florida State University in 2001.
Mia McKown, a member of the firm's Litigation Section, represents health systems in antitrust matters and has in-depth experience in representing businesses and professionals that need licenses or other approvals to do business in Florida. She also handles client matters involving bid protests before state agencies and assists in preparing responses to bid requests for clients. She received a B.S. degree from the University of Florida in 1988 and a J.D. degree from Stetson University College of Law in 1991.

Dominic Kouffman, a member of the firm's Litigation Section, practices in the areas of complex commercial litigation, including contractual disputes, business torts, fraud and commercial credit litigation. He has also represented clients in professional negligence disputes, construction litigation, and trusts and estates litigation. Gregory Koger, a member of the firm's Litigation Section, represents owners, contractors, subcontractors and engineers in disputes involving complex claims and defenses in the construction industry. He advises clients on issues concerning federal, state and local government contracts. He earned a B.S. degree from the University of Maryland in 1995 and a J.D. degree from Catholic University of America in 1999.
