Juan Pablo Diaz

Juan P. Diaz Castaño is an attorney in Holland & Knight's Bogotá office and focuses his practice on tax, private wealth services, foreign exchange consultancy, tax controversies, litigation and corporate law matters.

Mr. Diaz has extensive experience in the international and national tax and foreign exchange consultancy, as well as the planning and execution of inbound and outbound investment projects, corporate and tax restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). His experience focuses on the areas of planning, consulting, foreign investment, litigation and on the application of agreements to avoid double taxation.

In addition, Mr. Diaz has a significant background in tax planning regarding national and international matters, large transactions, and transferring pricing and tax risk management (due diligence). Mr. Diaz has in-depth knowledge of tax litigation, administrative audits advanced by Dirección de Impuestos y Aduanas Nacionales (DIAN), Unidad de Gestión Pensional y Parafiscales (UGPP) and local tax offices, as well as proceedings/cases before tax courts and the Council of State as Supreme Tax Court. Mr. Diaz is an active member of the firm's tax litigation team.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Diaz worked as an attorney in one of the largest firms in Colombia. With many years of experience in tax matters, Mr. Diaz has worked as a tax and legal consultant, litigant and general counsel in international companies engaged in projects in the United States and Latin America.
