Overview

Eugenio Grageda is a tax attorney who focuses his practice on international aspects of taxation, covering both corporate and private client tax matters.

In the corporate field, Mr. Grageda is focused on providing tax consultation services over any type of corporate transaction, investment structure or financial instrument, at a domestic and international level. In the private client space, he provides estate and succession tax planning and tax compliance assistance to individuals and families with international connections.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Grageda practiced in the tax department of various law firms in Mexico and New York, as well as with the Mexican Revenue Service. He is a professor at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de Mexico (ITAM) postgraduate school and continuously participates in forums.

  • Provided tax advice to a Mexican corporate group dedicated to the production of components in the automotive, maritime, aerospace, medical and hardware industries in its operations outside of Mexico
  • Assisted the biggest retail flooring company in Mexico, two of the most significant mezcal and tequila brands, a private oil and gas Mexican group, a medical software company and other Mexican corporations by creating an efficient structure to initiate operations outside of Mexico, e.g., the U.S., Spain and Latin America
  • Provided tax advice to an Irish entity on the purchase of several entities as part of a carve-out of a major Latin American airline
  • Represented major investment funds in the U.S. and Luxembourg in their funding operations to companies in Mexico
  • Assisted with real estate investment trusts (Fibras) and development trust certificates (CKDs) in different tax aspects of public issuances in Mexico and foreign markets
  • Advised foreign venture capital funds in their funding and investing strategies in several Mexican startups
  • Participated in the development of an assets acquisition plan by the issuance of bonds governed by Islam Law (Sukuk Al-Ijara) for a "state productive company" in Mexico

  • Represented a European telecommunications company and U.S. banks in different factoring, derivative and financing transactions between Mexico and foreign jurisdictions
  • Provided tax advice to a U.S. oil company regarding the winding up of several permanent establishments in Mexico
  • Represented Mexico's largest "state productive company" and its subsidiaries in several financing structures and cross-border planning
  • Represented a foreign energy company in the development of a private solar energy project in the north of Mexico
