What Is the “Stop Bothering” Law?

Litigation attorney Catalina Gutiérrez wrote an article for Lexir about the new "Stop Bothering" law that came into effect on Oct. 10, 2023, in Colombia in search of limiting harassment by collection entities toward people in debt. It also establishes rules for calls and messages outside of working hours and respecting privacy. Ms. Gutierrez explains that this law applies to supervised financial entities and people who carry out collection efforts, with the objective to protect the rights of consumers and place an end to harassment in these efforts.
