The Taylor Energy Oil Spill: A Two-Decade Environmental Challenge
Litigation attorney Kamran Mohiuddin and Public Policy & Regulation attorneys Jim Noe and Alexandra Ward co-authored a blog for the American Bar Association (ABA) discussing the challenges of the 2004 Taylor Energy oil spill. Hurricane Ivan damaged several of Taylor Energy's oil wells off Louisiana's coast, resulting in a nearly two-decade-long spill that led to various regulatory and environmental concerns. In 2021, Taylor Energy and the U.S. government settled, prompting important conversations and decisions about managing resources and protecting the environment, as well as corporate accountability, regulation and policy.
