"Congress Should Be Motivated to Debate a Pension Based on Savings"

Labor and employment attorney Camilo Cuervo was cited in an article published by La República offering his opinion on the pension reform in Colombia. The publication interviewed Juan David Correa, president of the company Protección, about two proposals being debated in the country's Congress. Mr. Correa commented that the Fund of Public Savings should be administered by a governmental entity, while Mr. Cuervo countered that it would function better in the hands of an independent entity.

"The public fund should be in the hands of an entity with corporate governance, the Bank of the Republic has the technical capabilities and is independent of the state," he said.
