Florida-Based Labor and Employment Practices Look to Hire as Demand Soars
Labor and employment attorney Edward Diaz was interviewed by the Daily Business Review about an uptick in work in this area as legislative and regulatory changes quicken and migration expands state workforces. Mr. Diaz, who co-leads Holland & Knight's Labor, Employment and Benefits Practice Group, noted the firm is looking to increase its presence in Florida, Texas, the Northeast and West Coast as a result of these national trends. He cited the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) proposed ban on non-compete clauses as a good example of how new laws are forcing companies to retool employment practices — which also means clients are turning to counsel more often.
"Typically, we advise clients on the law. Recently, it's been changing almost on a daily basis, with new laws being introduced," he explained.
