Michael Werner Recognized as Healthcare & Life Science Trailblazer by National Law Journal
WASHINGTON (April 2, 2020) – Holland & Knight Partner Michael Werner has been named a Healthcare & Life Science Trailblazer by the National Law Journal. Mr. Werner is among a selected group of attorneys recognized by the publication as outstanding practitioners who are “truly agents of change” in their industry. He is profiled in a special “Healthcare & Life Sciences Trailblazers” supplement, which was published in the April issue.
Michael Werner is a Washington, D.C.-based public policy and regulatory partner and a co-leader of Holland & Knight's Healthcare & Life Sciences Team. He advises manufactures, distributors and developers of FDA-regulated products, including prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) drugs, medical devices, biosimilars, cosmetics, dietary supplements and digital-health technologies.
In 2009 Mr. Werner co-founded the Alliance for Regenerative Medicine (ARM), a global community of companies, researchers, nonprofit institutions, patient advocacy groups, medical centers and investors supporting the development of regenerative medicines and advanced therapies. Starting with 15 organizations, ARM has grown to more than 300 globally.
“There are many regulatory issues that [ARM] has been working on collaboratively with lawmakers and other stakeholders, and this has led to effective treatments for patients,” Mr. Werner told the National Law Journal.
He is confident that regenerative medicine will continue to lead to new treatments and cures for unmet medical needs. “The result for all of us will be new medicines that will help patients and also address the social and economic burdens that confront our society. It’s going to be a revolutionary change,” he said.
