Holland & Knight Represents the Miss Universe Organization in New Multiyear Deal with Roku

MIAMI (August 7, 2023) – Holland & Knight advised the Miss Universe Organization, and its owners JKN Global Group PCL, in a multiyear deal with Roku Inc. (NASDAQ: ROKU) to continue as the U.S. streaming service for the Miss Universe pageant. The pageant will air in both English and Spanish, as the streaming service carries the Spanish-language television network Telemundo. The deal was announced on August 3.

Based in Thailand, JKN Global Group is a leading content distribution business and the parent company of the Miss Universe Organization, which owns and operates the Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA beauty pageants. The 72nd Miss Universe pageant will take place on Nov. 18, 2023, in El Salvador.

Based in San Jose, California, Roku manufactures and sells a variety of digital media players for video streaming and audio equipment, as well as operates an ad-supported video-on-demand service.

"The success of last year's broadcast, which also marked The Roku Channel's first-ever live event, not only demonstrates viewer appetite for live programming, but also the success that live programming can find in a free streaming environment," Roku Media Head of Content David Eilenberg said in a statement.
