Holland & Knight is now one of the largest law firms in Colombia
BOGOTÁ (May 15, 2023) – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that the attorneys and staff of notable business law firm Cuberos Cortés Gutiérrez (CCG) have joined Holland & Knight's Bogotá office. The group includes 28 lawyers: seven partners, two senior counsels and 19 associates, as well as four law clerks and various administrative staff.
The partner group joining Holland & Knight includes Gustavo Cuberos Gómez, Edwin Cortés Mejía, José Gutiérrez Mestre, Camilo Cuervo Díaz, Alba Malagón Enemocón, Julia Velásquez Torres and Diego Acevedo Gámez. With this move, Holland & Knight becomes one of the largest international law firms in Colombia and strengthens its existing corporate, litigation, arbitration, labor, tax, infrastructure projects and real estate practices, while also expanding the firm's capabilities through the addition of new practice areas, including insolvency and government procurement. In total, Holland & Knight now has 70 attorneys practicing in Bogotá.
Founded in 1986, CCG is a Bogotá-based full-service law firm. CCG has been ranked as part of the best firms in Colombia by The Legal 500 and Chambers Latin America for its practices, including Corporate/M&A, Litigation, Public Law and Labor & Employment.
"The talent and experience we're inheriting from CCG will strengthen our practice areas and help generate great opportunities for Holland & Knight within Colombia and beyond," said Enrique Gómez-Pinzón, executive partner of Holland & Knight in Bogotá. "CCG's focus on local clients complements our strategy of servicing international clients to the benefit of both groups. We are especially excited to introduce a new insolvency practice through renowned lawyer Gustavo Cuberos and very sophisticated arbitration, litigation, public law and governmental services offered by José Gutiérrez and Edwin Cortés."
"Becoming part of Holland & Knight's international network will not only benefit our clients but will also positively impact the growth of our partners, associates, senior counsels, law clerks and staff," said Gustavo Cuberos Gómez, a founding member and managing partner of CCG. "Holland & Knight is committed to becoming the 'go-to' firm for local companies seeking to expand their businesses in the U.S., and its investment in Colombia's business ecosystem is especially impressive. We look forward to helping the firm turn its vision into reality by providing superior legal services to legacy CCG clients and the many domestic and international clients of the firm's Bogotá office."
Holland & Knight's new growth in Colombia follows the arrival of 17 new lawyers in its Mexico City and Monterrey offices in April.
With 11 years in the Colombian legal market, Holland & Knight is among the local law firms with the largest international presence, with approximately 2,000 lawyers in 34 offices around the world.
