Holland & Knight's Hill Talks Busy First Half

Healthcare attorney Brent Hill discussed Holland & Knight's busy first half of 2023 with The Deal, which placed the firm third in its private equity league table for law firms. Mr. Hill joined the firm through the March 2023 merger with Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis LLP and credited the busy deal flow primarily to the firm's focus on the middle market. Even though there was a slowdown starting the last quarter of 2022 in mergers and acquisitions, Mr. Hill said middle market deals were not affected as much because of less reliance on bank financing.

"We have seen transactions routinely funded this year with a purchase price consisting of as little as 20 percent to 25 percent cash and the remaining portion of the purchase price funded with a combination of rollover equity and seller financing," said Mr. Hill.
